Learning to Draw YOUR HOME with Craig Baltzer

NEW DATE  SUNDAY, JUNE 7th, $30

The first part of the class is from 1pm-2pm and then following up later that evening 7pm-8pm.

NO PREVIOUS experience required! Get ready to draw your home, one line at a time. Artist Craig Baltzer will teach you how to draw your very own  home! The first part of the workshop he wil do a number of demos, speak about your tools of the trade (pencils and paper and more) and how to begin! There will be lots of time to ask questions and get assistance throughout the day. Then we will all come together again from 7pm-8pm and continue with our work or share what we accomplished thus far. The workshop will be recorded for you to review later should you require it.



RE-IGNITE your Creativity with Journaling & Sketching

ZOOM online Workshop with Meryl Cook

THURSDAY, JUNE 18th, 1pm-2:30pm, $50*

 

Join Meryl Cook and learn practical journaling tips for unblocking creativity whetehr it is to regain your sense of purpose and joy in life and work or to foster innovation and greater productivity. The fomat is a combination of storytelling, interactive discussion, journal writing and sketching. Workshop registration includes the required book for the course, called "One Loop at a Time: The Creativity Workbook" ($20 value) as well as special locally sourced treats from Nova Scotia businesses for you to enjoy at your leisure or just after "lunch"

*Additional postage charges will be applied if we need to send the book to you in the mail, within Canada ($5) or the USA ($10) but local curbside pick up of the book and within HRM doorstep delivery is included. No other supplies are needed except and open mind and a pencil.


 

LEARN TO PAINT WITH OILS with SHARON CAVE

SUNDAY, JUNE 21st, 1pm-2:30pm, $50 with supplies

($40 if you choose to use your own supplies. If you choose this option, please request a full materials list asap so you are prepared)

The first part of the class is from 1pm-2pm and then following up later that evening 7pm-8pm.

This workshop was originally planned to take place in person, however we are assuming that we will have to social distance at this time, so we are taking this class online. If we are allowed to host in person at the gallery, we will try to accommodate all that sign up for either online or in person. 


The first part of the workshop will include a discussion by Sharon and demo(s) regarding using oil paint as well as getting the participants to begin mixing colours and getting the beginning of a painting underway. Then we will all come together again from 7pm-8pm and continue with our work or share what we have done and ask further questions. Sharon will provide additional guidance and resources for future projects and exercises you may want to try. The entire workshop will be recorded for your future review should you require it.

WHAT YOU WILL BE PAINTING- THE SUPPLIES TO DO IT!

You will be painting either a rabbit or a fox. Source photos will be provided prior to the class via email. Supply packages to do the workshop will be available for pick-up for the class on either Monday( June 15)  or Wednesday (June 17th) from the gallery via a contactless pick-up between 10am-4pm. If that is not possible, other arrangements and delivery options can be arranged. If you live outside HRM, supplies could be mailed or couriered for an additional fee.

MARK BRENNAN VIDEO PRESENTATION

Mark Brennan has put together a video presentation about his life as an artist- how it all began and how he continues to be inspired by his surroundings in nature and expressing himself through a variety of mediums.  

The registration includes an exclusive link to this presentation, as well as a  Learn how to Identify a Migratory Birds in your Neighbourhood document  created by Mark with a call to you the get outside and discover nature. Share your findings with us. In addition, you will also be receive a small packet of seeds to plant some flowers to attract birds to your backyard

  BOOK AND PAPER DOLL FUN with Briana Corr Scott

TAKE AND PLAY, SATURDAY, JUNE 27th and beyond...

In celebration of  Briana Corr Scott's latest book, "The Book of Selkie" we are hosting a very special TAKE AND PLAY workshop of sorts. PICK UP her latest book, signed by the author on Saturday, June 27th which includes a few paper dolls already.  BUT in addition Briana is creating an an extra special  paper doll kit to accompany this  which will include  an exclusive paper doll by her and materials to make your own clothing for your doll using fabric, collage and more. All you will need is some glue and some creativity. 

Briana will release a series of links to help you with that too! You could host a paper doll party of your own and have fun with friends young and old alike! If you don't live in Halifax or Dartmouth and pick up isn't possible, we can arrange to ship your book and supplies for an additional cost of postage. You can play anytime you like!

Escape into art making
for a few hours,  by joining Liza Hageraats in a wet felting workshop and learn to create lovely tropical flower brooches. All materials will be supplied. No previous experience or supplies required. 
Class is limited to 8.12pm-2:30pm, $75



KIMBERLEY EDDY's  ART RESIN workshop has been postponed until later this Summer or Early Fall. We will post a new date here once we know more about how the COVID-19 is doing in our neighbourhood. 

However to get you by, we DO hope to offer a lecture about the Art and Science of Art Resin with Kimberley Eddy online. Stay tuned for details.
