Argyle Fine Art Welcomes Margaret Atwood with New Art Works by Kim Danio & Mindy Harris!!!

Margaret Atwood will be promoting her new book "The Testaments" at Halifax Central Library, as part of a national book tour on October 3rd.

To commemorate the author's visit, we will be promoting 2 new "Margaret Atwood" inspired works by gallery artists Kim Danio and Mindy Harris for their upcoming exhibitions opening October 19th.

Harris' "Wonder Women" and Danio's "Big Shoes To Fill" exhibitions will explore the theme of "Heroes" and what it means to be a hero...

Kim Danio's definition of a hero makes little distinction between hero-icon-idol-celebrity-role model-legend. Drawing from categories of: humanitarian, pop culture, fictional (TV, books, movies), historical, Math and Science, literature, sport, local, and music. Expect the unexpected from an ordinary old purse, pair of shoes and upcyled materials.

Kim Danio, "Margaret Atwood", mixed media, 8 x 3 x 2 inches

Harris' s "Wonder Women" exhibition explores this theme with her hand-embroidered and watercolour portraits and quotes of heroic women from the past and present.

Mindy will introduce you to a collection of women that are her heroes. Some are well known, while others are unknown to many of us despite their great contributions and impacts on culture, science, and history. Feel the power of the hero through Mindy's art.

Mindy Harris, "Margaret Atwood", hand embroidered cotton on canvas, 14" x 11"

Mindy Harris, "In the end...", hand embroidered cotton on canvas, 4" x 11"

Margaret Atwood, whose work has been published in 35 countries, is the author of more than 40 books of fiction, poetry, and critical essays. Her many prestigious awards include the Giller Prize and Booker Prize and the Order of Canada.

The October 19th opening will coincide with NOCTURNE, Halifax's Art at Night Festival.  The gallery will be open until Midnight!

See you there!!!
