There's an awful lot on the agenda for this fun filled Canada day weekend, including fireworks, concerts, and ART! Stop in for a visit this Saturday, we have lots of eye candy on display, including a number of patriotic inspired artworks by local artists:

Check out these hilarious new "Canadian Edition" Fold-eds by Ed Beals -
cut them out and fold them up for hours of crafty fun!
Say hi to Basil Doucette's adorable hand carved birds - there's LOTS of them to play with!

Awwe, it just wouldn't be the same without a collection of Basil Doucette's Wooden Beavers!!
A fantastic original drawing by Chris Lockerbie! Only $35

And of course, super fun Lego earrings by the very talented Emma and Liam :)
Argyle Fine Art is open Today and tomorrow (Saturday) from 10 - 5:30 but will be closed as per ususal on Sunday and Monday. If you're looking for us, we'll be out and about just like the rest of you,

New Jewels at Argyle (part three)

There really IS a steady stream of jewellery arriving at the gallery on a daily basis, and it's all handcrafted by local artists! I can't think of a better compliment to your fresh summer wardrobe.
These particular pieces are made by Jane Rovers (who recently opened her first exhibition at the gallery!!) and I think you'll agree that her earrings make fantastic little pops of contemporary colour - begging to be worn on a pretty summer's day.

For that special someone on a special day: Graduation Gifts and Wedding Gifts Galore and MORE!

Argyle Fine Art loves to always source out the best of Atlantic Canadian artists, in order to always have unique one-of-a-kind, creative, affordable local works for you to enjoy or give as a gift! We also have so much art, that we often have things tucked away, so remember to always ask us, if you are looking for anything in particular! Many of our artists are also open to commissions. We also can arrange a gift registry or provide special art experiences and gift certificates, if you're looking for that extra special thing but not sure exactly what.....Art makes people happy...proven time and time again!

Thistles by Kim Naumann
This time of year, saying CONGRATULATIONS is often in order to many of our family and friends. Especially if they are getting ready to graduate from any Grade...or maybe even from University. Here's an original screenprint on fibre by Michelle Saint-Onge that would fit the bill quite well, we think.

Acadia University- Michelle St-Onge
Or perhaps a memory of Halifax and it's street corners and colourful houses....
Barrington and Prince- Michelle St-Onge

Tower Road- Michelle St-Onge
Some younger graduates may appreciate something a bit more playful, such as a wide selection of FOLD-ED's by Ed Beals...papercraft you can cut and fold and create with...( they make brilliant alternatives to cards for all ages, by the way, and they are only $8 each or 3 for $20)

And of course, you can't forget about our ever increasing amazing selection of LEGO JEWELLERY by young artists Emma and Liam Travers! Earrings, Headbands, Bracelets, Rings, Tie Tacks, Cuff Links and MORE!

Many people have been drawn to the natural beauty of the latest jewellery by Rare Specimens (see more samples on this blog from June 18th!!) There are earrings and rings that are perfect for any gift giving need! All are just $40 too!

If you are looking for a unique gift to bring home with you while travelling to Nova Scotia, or just want to bring a little Nova Scotia to your home for under $20, consider a folk art bird by Basil Doucette...no two are ever alike!!  These are great for new baby gifts too, we think!

Or Perhaps you'd like to SAIL AWAY on a paper-mache ship by Becky Thompson! (they look great hanging on the wall or sitting anywhere in your home or office...small and large ships are available and all are different!)

We have sooooooooooooooo many artists that love to paint what's all around them, whether it be cityscapes, our local parks, wildlife, flora, or the seaside...come by and see what you can see!

New Jewels at Argyle (part two)

We're SO lucky to have received this little influx of work from Mary Garoutte, in jewellery form! Mary is very hard at work on her upcoming solo show (set to open on September 20th) featuring large scale works in oil. Many of you will know Mary for her miniature watercolour paintings, set into bottlecaps, belt buckles, earrings, and other jewellery settings. These tiny original paintings are a great way to carry art with you through everyday life - and as we often say here at the gallery, Art isn't just for an elite class of people, it's for e v e r y o n e !!!

NEW JEWELS AT ARGYLE (part one)

Jane from Rare Specimen knows where it's at, and our new collection of jewellery is absolute proof. These handsome little semi precious stones are left uncut so that you can appreciate them in their
natural state with coarse, geometric shapes.

We have a few new additions too if you're looking to expand your collection of rare specimens ;) we now have fabulous sparkling (aand adjustable) RINGS, and beautiful, delicate hoops:
