Long Weekend Vibes

Well, the word came down from the almighty province that we all need to stay close to home in Nova Scotia again, for just a little bit longer. Which means no trips away from the house this long weekend. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Fingers crossed we can see each other in June! This is getting a bit tricky for us small businesses downtown.

Maybe consider adding some original artwork to your surroundings soon, or buy a GIFT CERTIFICATE ONLINE here for your future purchases. There is always something at our gallery to satisfy all styles of art cravings and budgets.

We have put together a few little works that lift our spirits every time we glance upon them and hope they do for you too. Without further adieu....

This painting by Mark Brennan is even more gorgeous in person. If you can't get away for a paddle at your favourite waterway or park, this is the next best thing! If paintings had sound effects, this one would come with frogs peeping. Actually if you click here, you can enjoy some peeper sounds too!

Mark Brennan, Late Summer Lilies, Oil on canvas 36 x 36 inches, $3250

Do you have fishing fever? Best wear a mask!  If you intend to do some fishing while your out on a lake, you might as well do it in style! These hand embroidered masks by Yoko White are so whimsical! Perfect with Father's Day on the horizon too. Each one is a work of art, and could also be enjoyed simply for the work of art they are but are very functional as well. There are only three of them, in the world- all original and $85 each.

Head out for a quiet float in your boat...this painting by Nick Brunt is the perfect blend of weird and whimsy for these strange days! AHOY!

Nick Brunt, The Stills, 8"x10", Acrylic on Board, $325

Boardgames are there for you in good times and in bad, and this painting by Adrien Smith was inspired by one of his favourite retro boardgames....can you guess which one? We don't want to give out too many "clues"!

Adrien Smith, I am often following you...", 15" x 30", acrylic on canvas

If the weather holds, why not have a BBQ or order take-out from the many awesome restaurants offering extra special long weekend promotions to tickle your tastebuds! We love this delicious looking burger and cold frosty beverage by Leah Mark. Calorie-free and affordable at just $95.

Leah Mark, Burger!, 7.5" x 9", fabric collage, $95

Or maybe you're more of a donair type of person...hey, we understand. Sometimes you need to treat yourself to a delicious mess. The painting below by Anna Whalen looks almost as if it's an abstract painting but the more you look, the more you see the tinfoil, meat, sauce, tomatoes, onions...mmmmmm...

What's the age old saying....something about salt water can heal anything? It's worth a try, so why not take a stroll on a beach and breathe deeply in and out. Everything is going to be fine.....Catherine Bagnell Styles' painting captures the vibe perfectly.

Catherine Bagnell Styles, Wet Sand Pink Sky,  24" x24" , Oil on Board, $995

Another way to spend some quality time with yourself and your bubble, is going for a scenic drive around your neck of the woods, so why not jump into the truck, or heck...why not take 6 trucks to keep everyone safe and enjoy the ride! This amazing painting is by Andy MacDonald and is actually painted on a repurposed cupboard door with the handle and all. How cool is that!

Andrew MacDonald, Six Black Trucks, 42.5"x21.75", Acrylic and Glow in the Dark Paint on Reclaimed Cabinet Door, $1100

If all else fails, just watch a show and zone out.....sometimes you just need to relax inside with you feet up! Why not watch an "old-timey" show about the X-files. Many of the themes of the show dovetail nicely with the recent pandemic. Ha! This painting by Anna Whalen is just the bees knees...(inside X-file joke there!)

Anna Whalen, The Truth is Out There but so are the Lies, Oil on Board, 12" x 18", $525

Stay safe folks! Have fun however you can and we'll hope to see you SOON IN JUNE!   CHEERS!

Great affordable glasses- only $15 each. Celebrate getting vaccinated!

How Much is that Painting in the Window? New Show by Raquel Roth on NOW

This past weekend, we showcased the first solo show by emerging artist Raquel Roth. It's STUNNING! This exhibit called PETALS seems to have been just what the doctors ordered...in addition to staying home and staying 6 feet apart of course!

The paintings are uplifting and filled with hope, beautiful colours and textures. Many have found homes but there are many more still waiting for you! They are professionally presented, affordable and would  make wonderful gifts for an upcoming special event.

Pretty in Pink Peonies, 12" x 12", acrylic on canvas

Springtime Tapestry, 20" x 20", acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas

Due to Covid-19 we had to adjust our plans to celebrate these paintings with everyone in the traditional manner which was certainly disappointing but necessary to keep everyone safe in our community.

So we didn't cancel the show and instead hung the entire show in the gallery and invited Raquel to come in on Friday and do a walk-through the show, as if you were all here asking her questions about her paintings.

Below is the video of Raquel taking you on tour of the show. If you have trouble clicking the image below CLICK HERE to go to the video instead. ENJOY!

Once we completed capturing the video and installation shots, we quickly took the art off the walls and moved the entire show into our gallery windows to be enjoyed and purchased safely from outside the gallery walls.

We have been encouraging everyone living near-by, to take a walk or drive-by and do some literal window shopping. We have also put the show online with pricing information  HERE.

We are happy to arrange FREE LOCAL DELIVERY, curbside pick-up Wednesday- Friday 11am-5:30pm, and can ship artworks affordably and safely all over the world.

Please take a moment to visit the show online, in person from a safe distance outside our gallery windows or on our social media sites, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Thanks for supporting local business and artists during these uncertain times. STAY SAFE and KEEP IN TOUCH!

Congrats to Raquel for all your hard work!
Thank you for sharing your art with all of us:-)
