You're Doing It All Wrong!

Geordan Moore, Goldfish Variant III, Monoprint, 6"x24"

You may know him from the farmer's market on the weekends as the Quarrelsome Yeti, but you've never before seen anything such as "You're Doing It All Wrong!" That's right, Geordan Moore, the maker behind Hali-famous art and clothing has a new showcase at Argyle Fine Art!

The collection consists of 35 silkscreens, original drawings, and re-worked test monoprints. Some of the pieces are the only one of their kind, and some are part of a limited edition, but what each piece has in common is that it is absolutely mesmerizing.

Geordan Moore, Blue Bear Flowers, Monoprint, 19"x25"

When printmaking, part of Geordan's process is to pull test prints to make sure everything is working well with the press. He re-uses these test prints multiple times to save paper, and as the layers build up, whole new masterpieces are made! This is a fascinating method that brings elements of depth and juxtaposition into his works and makes them a must-see in person.

Geordan Moore, Lobster Variant IV, Monoprint, 12"x24"

In 2010 Geordan founded the Quarrelsome Yeti, his print studio and clothing company based in Dartmouth, NS, which began from the roots of Geordan's love for silkscreen printmaking. Since then it has truly taken off. He has expanded his characters and designs over the years, but the trademark Yeti character holds strong.

"You're Doing It All Wrong!" features subjects based off both land and sea animals including birds, lobsters, fishes, bears, turtles, cats, and more! These animals often have fantastical elements, such as the creature in "Two Heads are Better Than One Head". The collection also includes several of the original pen and ink drawings that some of the pieces are based off of! The layers of detail and imaginative creations in Geordan's works make this a spectacular show. Catch it before it's gone until November 8th, or check it out ONLINE HERE!

Woodland Critters

Get ready for a walk in the woods with the new showcase by Dusan Postolovic! "Woodland Critters" is a collection of 10 amazingly detailed drawings done with coloured pencil on watercolour paper. Each of the critters in this collection are unique, and come alive with every pencil line or strand of fur.

While the critters of this collection can be found in the woods, some of them can also be found very close to home! Dusan's hope with this collection is to inspire a sense of fun, warmth, and wonder. A few of the subjects of these drawings are very small and sometimes even considered pesky, but through Dusan's eye and hand they are transformed into the magical and beautiful beings they truly are.

Part of Dusan's driving motivation behind the collection was to create and share works that can be experienced by any and everyone, despite their background or experience in relation to art. He wanted all viewers to get the chance to meet the critters face to face, and feel their softness emanate off the page without any prior knowledge required. Dusan chose to use an Autumn-influenced colour palette with his coloured pencils, and the watercolour paper he used is a warm off-white that lets each critter take centre stage. He wanted to highlight the complex and fantastical beauty of these creatures.

Dusan has been a resident of Halifax, N.S. for many years, and he is from Vancouver, B.C. He works in many forms of art, but has been coming back to drawing and coloured pencils for a long time. It is clear to see in the soft detailing of the critters how comfortable Dusan is with this medium, and how he can weave wonders within it.                                                                                                                                                 (Right) Dusan Postolovic, Winslow the Owl, Coloured Pencil on Watercolour Paper, 16"x20"
Dusan's inspiration comes from many sources! This includes cartoons, nature books, television shows, and the great big world around him. Since 2011, Dusan began showing his work in local galleries and group shows in Lower Mainland, B.C. He has been a part of group shows including the Pre-Shrunk show here at Argyle Fine Art, and this is his second solo showcase! "Woodland Critters" is a stunning collection that will take the viewer out of their thoughts and into the pure joy of the woods and all of its inhabitants. Make sure to see it for yourself before November 8th! If you can't make it in person, take a look ONLINE HERE!!!
