Come on a Virtual Hike with us!

Happy Saturday! The sunny Spring weather has us daydreaming of going on a hike through the Nova Scotia wilderness! Luckily enough, Mark Brennan recently brought several all new artworks into the gallery. These paintings and watercolour pieces transport you right into the heart of the wild and beautiful nature around us!

Mark Brennan, Blue Light of Morning, Keji, Oil on Panel, 11"x14", $700

One very special thing about Mark's artworks is that sometimes he includes the coordinates of the locations he paints! This is very exciting, as folks can visit these places in real life! However, it may not be so simple to drop everything and go on a hike, so we decided to put together a virtual hike. Below you can find a couple of Mark's works along with the coordinate location!

Mark Brennan, Louse Harbour Canso Coastal Barens, Oil on Canvas, 20"x24", $1600

Mark Brennan, Early Summer Morning, Archibald Lake, Near the St. Mary's River, Nova Scotia, Oil on Panel, 9"x12"

Well...that was FUN! STARRY NIGHT GALLERY HOP!

Last night many of the Halifax galleries stayed open until 9pm and encouraged folks to come out to visit us all on a self-guided tour of art and fun happenings! We were delighted to see some new faces and lots of smiles at the second STARRY NIGHT ART HOP!

At Argyle Fine Art, we highlighted the latest show by Jack Ross, still here until May 6th as well as many other new works by gallery artists.

We invited artists Kerry Hodgson, Craig Gunn and Chantel Elysia to an art challenge!  We provided the canvas, paint and supplies and asked them to paint LIVE during the evening, but 30 minutes into their painting process we asked them to pick two kitchen utensils from a box and use them to paint with!

The results were amazing and so fun to watch! Creativity really blossoms when you change the way you work, ever so slightly and work with what you have.Who would have thought a pizza cutter could make for such a great art tool?

Kerry Hodgson with her whisk & pastry cutter!

Craig Gunn ready to make a masterpiece...using a strainer & a martini strainer?

Chantel Elysia was inspired by the name of the art tour, and made a painting as an homage to starry starry night by Vincent....here she is just getting started with the pizza cutter and beater in hand!

There were many laughs and visitors throughout the evening! THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU!  And if you missed this art hop, watch out the next one...we're all planning another soon!

Half way through the creative process, we asked the artists to switch stations and painting on each other's paintings....eeeck.....that time was tense but interesting to see how each artist made their own marks.

Below are the FINAL PAINTINGS. They are each now for SALE for a donation of $50 each, with the money going to the artist's charity of choice!

Let us know if you'd like to make one of these yours and of course you are more than welcome to offer more per piece as that will benefit the charities more but not required!:-) Every little bit helps those in need! Email or phone us to make a purchase/donation.:-)
