As you might have heard, it's that time of year again... time for Gordon's annual SHOWCASE! Right around now the gallery turns from "a little bit of everything" to "calm and collected" as we feature 25 new pieces by Gordon MacDonald.

The special thing about Gordon's work is he often paints on copper. This creates a beautiful "under glow" to the paintings. Stunning to see in person!

Along with Gords work we are also featuring new work by emerging artist RJ Ogemah! RJ is an artist originally from Thunder Bay Ontario. Influenced by his Anishinaabe roots he strives to cultivate and share an appreciation of nature through his work.

RJ works in oil paint and creates beautifully detailed images of nature and the east coast. This will be his second showcase with Argyle Fine Art!

How does your Garden Grow?

It's finally here!  Full on mid-Summer sun and plants are thriving everywhere you look! Maybe it's the flowers in a park you walk through or along a favourite trail. Maybe it's as close as your backyard or deck....or maybe in our gallery! Come for a stroll through our artful garden.

 

Many of our artists are inspired by their gardens and it shows with all the pops of colour in the gallery right now. Check out this newly arrived paintings by Raquel Roth.

Emerging artist Alicia Braganza loves flowers too, and captured these in her recent acrylic paintings, from her recent trips with family along the North Shore here in Nova Scotia. Wild flowers are the best too. Just look at those textures and colours.

Artist Catherine Bagnell Styles is an avid gardener!  Flowers pop up in many of her paintings like this one, and she has even hosted an art show in her garden. Watch for her solo show opening in September 2022.

Summer Has Arrived!

It seems summer has arrived in the Maritimes. Many out travelling, walking the town and even enjoying a work of art or two... So we thought it would be fun to share some works that give us that "Summer Feeling"

Cynthia A. Henry, "All you need is love. And lobster"

 

This particular painting by artist Cynthia Henry's feels like the best place to start. I can't think of a more iconic summer moment than sitting at the cottage with your freshly cooked lobster enjoying the late afternoon sun! Inae Kim - Year of the Sunflower

Sunflowers are a staple to the later months of summer. Bright vibrant yellows and oranges sprinkled through local neighbourhood gardens. Inae Kim takes inspiration from walking the city and residential areas. Her work captures Halifax in a beautiful way. - See more HERE

Alexander Koltakov - Mahone Bay

 

Speaking of road trips around Nova Scotia, have you visited the sweet town of Mahone Bay? We love how Alexander Koltakov paints this brightly coloured town. - You can see more of his beautiful landscapes HERE

 

Craig Gunn - Glenwood Avenue, Dartmouth

I really enjoy the golden hour feeling of this piece by Craig Gunn. Reminiscing about Summer nights walking home after a long day swimming at the lake. Craig paints many scenes from urban landscapes to blue water beaches. Each painting feels like a memory you are looking back on. - Check out his work HERE

 

Deb Bromley - Mexico, I'd like to go

Finally, nothing feels more like summer than hitting the beach! No one captures that feeling better than Deb Bromley. Her bright playful colours and relatable figures feel like a snapshot of a typical day at the beach. See more of her work HERE

Fruit of the Season

You might have seen these lovely embroidered works around the gallery or in our window display, beautify crafted by local artist Yoko White.

Yoko grew up in Tokyo, Japan before moving to Canada when she was 20 to finish her education. Now living in Halifax with her family she continues to create, pushing new boundaries and trying new subject matter.

 

She crafts handmade embroidered items, and especially enjoys French knots as her preference to create with. Most recently these delicious looking fruit necklaces! Perfect for any summer outfit or gift.

Can you believe it`s already JUNE? Let's get you caught up on whats going on at the gallery this month...

Sharon brought to life a family of crows and a few precious seagulls who I like to call "the aunts of the family" all with their own personality and spunk!
