Pre-Shrunk Cast of Characters!

The Pre-Shrunk 2023 Show is currently up at Argyle Fine Art! We are so excited about all the wonderful creations that we decided to feature another grouping of pieces to highlight a few of the phenomenal faces of the show! And by faces, we mean that quite literally...Today's theme is: Cast of Characters! Whether it is a portrait full of expression, a literary reference, or a mythological figure, each of these artworks is full of personality. We are pleased for you to make their acquaintance!

Pre-Shrunk Picnic Time!

The Pre-Shrunk 2023 show is in full swing, and there is so much to discover this year! While a 4"x5" base size is common amongst each piece, there is absolutely so much variety! We decided to put together a wee grouping of the works, with the common theme of fantastic food. It's almost as if we are going on a Pre-Shrunk Picnic! It may be too chilly outside for a real picnic in Nova Scotia, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy these sweet and salty treats (and the artists who worked so hard on them) virtually! Grab your best pic-a-nic basket, and enjoy!

SNEAKY PEEKY PRE-SHRUNK 2023

Where did the time go? It’s already time for another PRE-SHRUNK show at Argyle Fine Art! YAY! Rejoice! Small art brings JOY!

The 19^th annual art show launches on Friday, January 27^th, 7pm-9pm. (masks are encouraged). Creatives from all over Canada are participating in this juried exhibit where all artists were asked to create works that were 4” x 5”. This year we have close to 400 works in the show--the largest show of smalls ever! Each original work of art sells for $175 each.

Expect to see the unexpected- in all different mediums including painting, textile, photography, collage, sculpture and more! The show will continue in person and online until February 21^st, but drop by sooner than later! This little show will shrink as works sell! As always, it’s always FREE TO VISIT THE GALLERY ANYTIME!

We love this show as a gallery because we meet so many new artists in our community and abroad. Viewers have so much fun because it’s a feast for your eyes and soul, and there is truly something for everyone. Artists enjoy it as a way to meet other artists and get inspired for the year of art making ahead.

We want to sell you art but...art can't be sold until 7pm to the general public, however if you arrive throughout the opening day or view it online, and want to put a piece on hold to purchase at 7pm, you can leave payment information with us and it will be processed after the initial voucher holders make their selections from 5:30pm-7pm.

HAPPY NEW ART YEAR TO YOU!

Wave goodbye to 2022 and hello to 2023! The holiday rush is always a bit overwhelming, and then comes the quiet of January...or so you thought! There is still much to look forward to, in particular:

PRE-SHRUNK 2023!!!

This is the 19th anniversary of our annual group show of 4"x5" artworks, the biggest little art show in Halifax! Each fall we put out a call for submissions, and artists from all across Canada do not disappoint! The show that opens FRIDAY, JANUARY 27th will include over 300 mini artworks, which a jury curates from hundreds of artist entries! IF YOU ARE AN ARTIST, there's still time. INFO HERE. Every year there are many paintings, mixed media, 3D sculptural pieces, and more! You would be surprised what is possible within a 4"x5" space!

Many of these artists have shared their work with us through the years, however this show also features many emerging artists who are exhibiting their work with us for the very first time! This show is a great chance to meet new people and share a love of art with the community, whether you make art or not! Pre-Shrunk is spectacular to catch in person, especially to see all the little works together! It is amazing how much can fit on one wall...But don't worry! If you can't come in person, each piece will be available online.MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
