GREAT THINGS IN STORE FOR DAD!!

The father that receives a pair of Lego cufflinks, or a Lego tie tack from Em-Li Designs is one lucky man indeed! Em-li designs are composed of local brother and sister, Emma and Liam (ages 12 and 15) and they've earned themselves the distinction of producing some of our best selling items available at the gallery..
And their prices are very reasonable to boot! Tie tacks and cufflinks are priced at $15 while sets (matching cufflinks and tie tacks) are priced at $30. And how about those super cool wrist cuffs with moving cogs? Those are $35. Dad will be so impressed!!

Midweek Gallery Shuffle

It sounds like a trendy dance party, but the midweek gallery shuffle is in fact our reality with two new shows opening this Friday. We CANNOT WAIT for you to see these new works up on display! The gallery will be filled with a special kind of energy that only Mark Brennan and Gregg Tracey can evoke. Both artists produce works that are bound to Nova Scotian nature, in spirit and subject... Doors Open Halifax

What a great opportunity to reach into the heart of your city and see what really makes it tick! This weekend is "Doors Open Halifax" and it's our chance to take a step inside some of those iconic buildings that we often walk past. It's a rare treat to be able to visit locations that aren't always open to the general public, and we're quite excited to do some exploring ourselves. New Work Has Arrived by Briana Corr Scott!!

Come and have a look at these wonderful little gems by Briana Corr-Scott, a talented local artist who's painted a lovely series of vignettes that look and feel like familiar memories. Each piece is framed beautifully by her husband, who obviously has a taste for fine craftsmanship and quality materials. The pairing is perfection, and should you see these pieces in person I think you'll agree that there is a love in these paintings that's almost palpable:

Birds of Heartsong Garden: New works by Gregg Tracey Opening June 14th

Tis' the season for gardeners to be gardening...birders to be birding and for all of us to stop and take time to look and see the wonderful creatures that live in our backyards....

That's exactly what artist Gregg Tracey does everyday in his garden near Lahave,NS. Not only is Gregg a talented printmaker, but he also makes guitars and speciality instruments, jewellery and spoons and well...anything out of wood. He loves to work with his hands and his art truly sings (as does he sometimes too!)

We are excited to present a body of works by Gregg that are carved birds from wood, set inside or on carefully selected wood burls and branches collected by Gregg and his family from around his farm.

We're so pleased with this new body of work by Aaron LaShomb who has taken familiar wildlife animals, and paired them with imposing human elements. The combination is at once thought provoking, and compels us to spend a little time in front of each piece to consider it's meaning. The works also have a sweetness that has charmed many of our gallery visitors - young and old alike!

Did You Know? Bike Week is Just Around The Corner!!

...and there's an Art Crawl tailored especially for all you wonderful Bicycle enthusiasts!! Saturday, June 1st at 5pm is the group bike ride / art crawl. You'll notice that many venues around the city will be showcasing bike related artworks - and we're included in those venues!! (Click here for more details on which venues are participating) In fact, we're pretty darn excited about what we have in store; Super neat bike pendants by artist Brenda Diabo, and fantastic "up-cycled" objects by William Rudolph:

HOOT HOOT! : A great way to end the day!

Phew...it's been a whirlwind of a day! Lots of fun things happening to HOOT about soon... Many people dropping by enjoying the sunlight and new projects underway. Can't wait to share some exciting news soon!

We were so busy in fact, that we almost forgot to do a blog entry, but we found a few wee moments to share this little fellow with you, whom we have only just rediscovered, which is priced at just $65. It's clay, amazing and by artist Amy Rosa. It looks great on a small easel or you could frame it.We just love him and wish he'd find the perfect home!

"A little pick-me-up!"- Pick up a little work today and make May a little Brighter!
